Prior to 1991 he spent 20 years in the home building industry creating a successful career in sales and management. He is also the author of a variety of books on leadership, sales, fulfillment, and conflict resolution, several of which are described in the “Books” section of this website. He is known especially for helping leaders and employees one-on-one in ways that enrich team culture as well as individual achievement.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Cultural Anthropology instilled a profound interest in culture that Richard brought into the business world.

In sales he succeeded through his desire to connect and partner with people to achieve resolution.  His customers saw him as the leader and collaborator who would get them where they needed to go. He brought that passion and skill into his management career, along with a commitment to build strong team cultures.

He then started his own business (1991) in order to train and coach salespeople, managers and leaders with a laser focus and deep-rooted passion to bring out the best in each of them.

In 2007 he co-authored Motivation from the Heart: The Guide to Motivational Leadership. This year he has created a video series called Creating a Culture of Positive Influence. His consulting service assists organizations in their efforts to instill this culture. This video and service are the centerpiece of Richard’s business.

The driving forces in his career are:

  • Encouraging them in the literal sense of giving them courage.
  • Helping leaders to develop a leadership style that strikes an equal balance of encouragement and accountability.
  • Helping people to achieve the highest level of results over the long term by finding enjoyment, satisfaction and fulfillment in their work.

Richard and his wife, Christina, live in Fairfax, Virginia.

His passion outside of work is Bible teaching.
